Carol Ann (Henderson) Rhodes, 84, of Taylorville, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, at Taylorville Care Center.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Asbury Cemetery in Raymond. For those who plan on attending, IDPH guidelines will be followed, including wearing a mask and practicing social distancing.
Mrs. Rhodes was born Aug. 25, 1936, in Raymond, the daughter of Elmer “Hank” and Gladys (Herzog) Henderson.
For 45 years, she worked as a nurse’s aide in the OB Department at St. Vincent Hospital in Taylorville. She was proud of the fact that she took care of the last baby to be born at the hospital.
A caring person, she took in many stray dogs and cats. She also enjoyed her family and traveling.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (husband James) Dowdy of Edinburg; son, Mark Rhodes of Taylorville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donna Waterman of Taylorville.
Mrs. Rhodes was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth Henderson on Oct. 18, 2007, and Ronald “Pete” Henderson on Jan. 24, 2008.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville or Asbury Cemetery.
