Carol Ann (Hathaway) Correll, 72, of Morrisonville, died Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 2:20 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, due to complications from COVID-19.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 5, at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville with the Rev. H. Dayle Badman officiating.
Mrs. Correll was born Dec. 24, 1948, in Danville, the daughter of Herman and Doris (Hamilton) Hathaway. She married Danny Correll at the Rossville Methodist Church in 1974. They had three beautiful daughters, and later divorced.
A 1967 graduate of Rossville High School, she went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Illinois University in 1971. Upon her graduation, she worked as an elementary school teacher in Morrisonville, where she taught many different grade levels until her retirement in 2004.
After retiring, she worked as a librarian at the Morrisonville schools. She then worked as a special education aide for Mid-State. She also worked for Casey’s General Store in Morrisonville for many more years. She was hard-working, and worked from sun up until sun down for years, taking care of her daughters and grandchildren. She was selfless and entirely devoted to her family.
She loved shopping and her Bunco Club, as well as watching the HGTV channel and Hallmark movies. She was an avid reader, always reading the last chapter first. Her greatest joy was being a cheerleader for her grandchildren. She rarely missed a sporting event, pageant or extracurricular activity of any kind. Her family extended to her daughters’ friends and their children, as well as her grandchildren’s friends. She will always be remembered as a wonderful, devoted mom and grandma and a second mom to many.
Mrs. Correll is survived by her daughters, Heather (Brian Vocks) Vickery of Taylorville, Amanda (Shawn) Christian of Morrisonville and Malissa (Aaron) Calvert of Taylorville; grandchildren, Trevor Badman, Chase (Shelbi Paul) Vickery, Rhaegan (Matthew Tarrant) Correll, Jett Vickery and Tate Christian; siblings, Marsha (Ray) Price, Joyce (Don) Hasler and Mark (Laura) Hathaway, all of Rossville; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved dog, Chi Chi.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
