Bruce Edward Fenton Sr., 75, of Hillsboro, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Hillsboro.

Funeral services will begin at 12 noon on Friday, Feb. 4, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro with the Rev. Jeff Hemken, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Friday until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Fenton was born on Feb. 20, 1946, in St. Louis County, MO, the son of Willis Alva and Viola Louise (Hicks) Fenton.  He worked as a school custodian for the Hillsboro School District, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, and lived in Hillsboro his entire life.

He married Linda Lee Friesland and they later divorced.  He married Barbara Ann (Morrell) Whitlow on Oct. 10, 1987, in Hillsboro, and she preceded him in death on May 12, 2020.

He is survived by a son, Bruce Edward (wife Angela) Fenton Jr. of Mt. Clare; step-children, Bob (wife Tina) Whitlow of Pawnee, Bill (wife Patty) Whitlow of Witt, and Karen (husband Jeff) Dozier of Springfield; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, John William (wife Alice) Fenton of Hillsboro; two sisters, Melinda Ann (husband Larry) Guinn of Hillsboro, and Nellie Moore of Port Charlotte, FL.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by siblings Alva Lee Fenton, Gloria June Clayton, and Vada Carter; and a brother-in-law, Sam Moore.
