Brian John Leitschuh, 48, of Litchfield, died on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. at St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Mt. Olive. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow, beginning at 6 p.m. at the church with Father Tom Hagstrom officiating. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is assisting the family.

Mr. Leitschuh was born March 20, 1974, in Litchfield, to John and Mary Ann (Millburg) Leitschuh. He married Denelle “Dee” Elaine Wilson on Feb. 17, 2001, at Church of the Ascension in Mt. Olive, and she survives.

He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1992 and received his bachelor of science degree in animal science from the University of Illinois in 1996.

Mr. Leitschuh was a self-employed farmer, having started in farming at the age of 15 with his grandfather, Alfred Millburg.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, sightseeing, spending time with his family and working in his shed. He was an avid Cardinals fan and loved his dogs Jake, Buddy and Joey, and his cat Bo.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Leitschuh is survived by his parents of Litchfield; two sons, Matthew Leitschuh and Zachary Leitschuh, both of Litchfield; sister, Jamie (Tim Erickson) Leitschuh of Winter Garden, FL; mother-in-law, Diane Spinner of Litchfield; grandmother, Maxine Leitschuh of Mt. Olive; two sisters-in-law, Renee (Trent) Laughlin and Dana (Tyson) Holshauser, both of Hillsboro; nephew, Braydon Laughlin; and two nieces, Avery Laughlin and Hazel Holshauser.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred and Esther Millburg and Joseph Leitschuh; and his father-in-law, Michael Spinner.
