Brenda R. (Thunhorst) Schleyhahn, 65, of Springfield, formerly of Morrisonville, died Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at her residence.
Private family memorial ceremonies will be held with the Rev. Chad Foster officiating. Inurnment will be held in Morrisonville Cemetery at a later date. Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville is assisting the family.
Ms. Schleyhahn was born Oct. 10, 1954, in Taylorville, the daughter of Walter J. “Tunie” and Ruth M. (Swain) Thunhorst.
A member of the Morrisonville class of 1972, she went on to work for the State of Illinois Department of Human Services for many years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Morrisonville. She enjoyed making and painting pottery, macrame, refinishing furniture and shopping. She was also a lover of all animals.
She is survived by her mother, Ruth M. Thunhorst of Morrisonville; sisters, Kathy Myers of Morrisonville and Kelli (Bryan) LeMarr of Auburn; nieces and nephews, Cristin (D.J. Sanders) O’Connor of Morrisonville, Hannah O’Connor of Springfield, Austin (Chelsea) Myers of Alaska, Aria Guerra of Phoenix, AZ, and Zachary (Jessica Southard) LeMarr and Brandon LeMarr, both of Springfield; six great-nieces and great-nephews; and several cousins.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Michelle A. Rosenblum.
