Beverly Grindley, 85, of Coffeen, died at 9:23 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at her residence.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at 2 p.m., at the funeral home with Troy White officiating. Burial will be in Olive Hill Cemetery in Coffeen.
Mrs. Grindley was born on Dec. 21, 1938, in New Holland, to the late Meinard Doyen and Ilene (Knoles) Doyen McLaughlin Burris. She was a 1956 graduate of Hillsboro High School and married Elbert “Elbo” Grindley, on Feb. 21, 1959, at the United Methodist Church in Coffeen. They had been married for 62 years before he preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 2021.
Mrs. Grindley owned and operated a café in Coffeen, as well as waitressing at other local restaurants. She and her husband also owned and operated the Coffeen Laundromat for several years. Mrs. Grindley loved to bowl and was on a bowling league in Hillsboro for many years. She had went to the National Bowling Tournament twice, once in Buffalo, NY, and then in Tulsa, OK. She loved spending time with her family. She lived in Petersburg until moving to Coffeen in 1952.
Mrs. Grindley is survived by her two children, Carl Grindley of Ferron, UT, and Dawn (husband, John) Osborn of Coffeen; five grandchildren, Faith (husband, Jeff) Clark, Zach Grindley, Afton (husband, Kyler) Wakefield, Shawnee (husband, Dustin) Snow and Gabe Osborn; four great-grandchildren, Drayson Snow, Daxton Snow, Deegan Snow and Lennix Clark; three siblings, Judy (husband, Jerry) Hauskins of Greenville, Janet (husband, Terry) White of Coffeen and Ralph (wife, Anne) McLaughlin of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Wanda Gail Guckian, Doris Greenwood and David Doyen.
