Betty Lou Simonton, 94, of Blue Springs, MO, formerly of Gillespie, died at 1:17 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at Centerpoint Hospital in Independence, MO.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. The funeral procession will line up at Plummer Funeral Home at 10:45 a.m. to proceed to the cemetery. Plummer Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Simonton was born on March 16, 1927, in Litchfield, a daughter of Arthur and Lula (Tipsword) Young. She married Virgil Don Simonton on Aug. 9, 1945, in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2011.
Mrs. Simonton dedicated her time to being a homemaker. In her earlier years, she worked at Precission Manufacturing later known as Roller Derby Skate Corp., in Litchfield. She was an avid reader.
Mrs Simonton is survived by her daughter, Jole’ (Werner) Henze of Grain Valley, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one sister, Leatrice Portwood.
