Bernice Lucille Baker, 101, of Mt. Zion, formerly of Litchfield, died on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, at 5:14 p.m. at Heritage Health: Therapy and Senior Care in Mt. Zion.

Private family funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 22, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. The Rev. Gary Schwab of First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend. No vistation will be held.

Mrs. Baker was born Nov. 19, 1920, in Litchfield, to Ernest and Lillie (Steward) Fraser. She married John W. Baker on April 1, 1942, in St. Charles, MO, and he preceded her in death on May 13, 1989.

She graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1939.

During her career, Mrs. Baker was employed by the H.F. Henrichs Publication (The House of Sunshine) for several years and then served as church secretary at the First Baptist Church in Litchfield until her retirement.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Litchfield.

Mrs. Baker is survived by three sisters, Margie Parnell of Litchfield, Mary Ann Knabel of Decatur and Marilyn McLauchlan of Mascoutah; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Fraser; nephew, Ernie Fraser; and niece, Jody McLauchlan.
