Bernard “Bernie” Bailey Hoehn, 72, of Vandalia, died at 10:56 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2024, at his residence.
Private services will be held and burial will be at Irving Cemetery in Irving. Father Daniel Willenborg, pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, will officiate. Bass-Patton Dean Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mr. Hoehn was born on Sept. 15, 1951 in Hillsboro, to Joseph Bailey and Fairy May (Jones) Hoehn. He was a 1969 graduate of Taylorville High School. Mr. Hoehn married Deborah C. Copenhaver on Aug. 30, 1974, in Taylorville, and she survives in Vandalia.
Throughout his life, Mr. Hoehn resided in Taylorville, Witt, Oconee, Blue Mound, Decatur and Vandalia. He retired from Caterpillar after 30 years of service as a journeyman machinist. He was a member of UAW 751 and a NRA benefactor life member. Aside from being a gun enthusiast, he enjoyed nature, music and movies. Mr. Hoehn liked to make people laugh and always wanted to leave them with a smile on their face.
Mr. Hoehn is survived by his wife, Deborah Hoehn of Vandalia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Joseph Hoehn.
