Rebecca “Becky” (Glover) Cloney, 77, of Springfield, died on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, prior to services. Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Butler Funeral Home, located at 900 S. Sixth St. in Springfield.
Mrs. Cloney was born on April 2, 1947, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Everett C. and Dorothy L. (May) Glover. She married James E. Cloney, Sr., in Raymond, and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Cloney graduated from Lincolnwood High School in Raymond. She was Miss Litchfield, and participated in Miss Illinois and received the title of Miss Congeniality. Mrs. Cloney went on to work at the Sangamon County Clerk’s Office, retiring after 30 years. She loved animals, adored her grandchildren and enjoyed fishing, bird watching, backgammon and bingo. She was friendly, fun-loving, creative and had lots of friends.
Mrs. Cloney is survived by her children, James E. (Tina) Cloney, Jr. of Decatur and Janis (Matthew) Bredehoft of Springfield; grandchildren, Colin Cloney of Kansas City, MO, Conner Cloney of Decatur, Lauren Bredehoft of Indianapolis, IN, and Brock Bredehoft of Springfield; and siblings, Donna (Chip) House, Ronnie Glover, Jaynece Glover, Everett (Sherry) Glover and Ginger McCullers.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bub, James and Tom Glover; and sister, Vicky Cline.
