Barbara Sturgeon, 88, of Champaign, formerly of Hillsboro, died Nov. 17, 2021 surrounded by family.

Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 4, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Morgan Memorial Home in Savoy. A private family memorial will follow.

Mrs. Sturgeon grew up in Hillsboro  where she met her husband, Richard Sturgeon. They were married for 69 years, living most of  that time in the Champaign-Urbana area.

She was a devoted wife, a beloved mother, and friend to many. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Urbana, enjoyed playing bridge, and volunteered extensively. She also enjoyed exercising daily at the Mettler Center.

Mrs. Sturgeon is survived by her husband, Richard “Dick” Sturgeon; son Mike Sturgeon (wife Karen) of Monticello; daughters Anne Johnson of Villa Hills, KY and Jennifer Rousos (husband Greg) of Louisville, KY; grandchildren Jaime Tabeling of Monticello, Dylan Sturgeon (wife Belinda) of Monticello, Kaytlin (husband Jordan) Hume, of Covington KY; Zachary Johnson of Erlanger, KY, Spencer (wife Lexi) Johnson at Leemore Naval Base, CA, Elizabeth (husband Christian) Cain of Ft. Thomas, KY, and Emily Rousos of Louisville, KY; great-grandchildren Leina Louise Sturgeon, Kyler Hume and Payson Hume.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Kathryn Brown.
