Barbara J. “Barb” McCormick, 91, of Carlinville, died on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, at her home in Carlinville.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Mausoleum of Valor. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. McCormick was born on May 4, 1933, in Peoria, a daughter of the late Wilson “Ace” and Marian Robertson Breigel. She graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1951 and married Lawrence “Mac” McCormick, in Carlinville, on June 10, 1955, and he preceded her in death.
After graduating, she spent time as a member of the Springfield Muni Opera. She was a member of B.P.W. and Macoupin County Historical Society, where she displayed many of her hand-embroidered tea towels and pillowcases.
Mrs. McCormick is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Jim) Kelmel of Morrisonville; son, Kenneth (Suzanne) McCormick of Virden; grandchildren, Rachel (Jeff) Bethard of Litchfield, Trent (Kendra) Quarton of Springfield and Blake McCormick of Virden; and great-grandchildren, Ashton, Logan and Clayton Bethard and Thea and Kara Quarton.
