Barbara J. Grant, 59, of Panama, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Sorento. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded after the ceremonies.

Mrs. Grant was born Dec. 30, 1961, in Granite City, the daughter of John and Rosemary (Godfrey) Kampmann, Sr. She married Patrick “Mike” Grant, Sr. on Aug. 17, 1990, in Sorento, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2009.

She was a graduate of high school in Granite City. She was a homemaker, and above all, a caregiver to her entire family. Her door was always open, whether it was caring for her father-in-law and husband throughout their illnesses, or watching her children, grandchildren or the neighborhood kids, she always made sure everyone had what they needed. She put everyone’s needs before herself.  She was a “Mrs. Fix-It” extraordinaire, she went as far to re-plumb a family member’s kitchen. She was a hard worker, always tending to her vegetable garden and canning. She liked to have a good time too, going on many float trips and excursions to Six Flags with the family.

She is survived by her sons, Shawn Grant of Panama and Patrick M. (wife Shannon) Grant, Jr. of Bunker Hill; grandchildren, Austin, Hannah, Kylie and Berlyn Grant; siblings, Larry Kampmann of Carlinville, Paul Kampmann of New Douglas, Billie Jean Cooper of Benld and Anna May Conner of Granite City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rosie Clark, and a brother, John Kampmann, Jr.

Memorials may be made to the family in c/o Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 5, Sorento, IL 62086.
