Barbara Ann Hicks, 73, of Nokomis, died on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. at the First United Pentecostal Church in Nokomis.
Mrs. Hicks was born on Sept. 14, 1951, in Alton. She was a loving wife, mother, and devoted friend. She enjoyed traveling and was known for her love of both short and long road trips. She grew up in Litchfield, before moving with her husband, Larry, to California in the 1970s. They returned to Illinois in 2001.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her for her kindness and her adventurous spirit. Her legacy of love and travel will continue to inspire her family and friends.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by her husband, Larry Hicks; sons, Larry Wayne Hicks Jr. and Dennis Hicks, both of Nokomis; stepson, Roger Hammond of Honeybend; sister, Debra Tyler of Nokomis and brother, Dennis Thomas and his wife Janet of Murray, KY; granddaughter, Hayley Hicks of Reno, NV; great-grandchildren, Levi, Axel and Kaycee; numerous nieces including Tamie Stuttle, Christy Bennet, Vanessa Williams, Christal, Andrea, Rebecca, Donna, Teresa, Cindy, Pam, Belinda, Sheila, Kylie, Ashley, Hollie, Hayley and Kristin; and nephews including Oscar, Bryan, Alex, Kenneth, Jason, Adam, Charlie, James, Alan, Jimmy, Blaine and Matthew.
She was preceded in death by her son, David Hicks; her father, Oscar Parker; and her mother, Dorothy Parker.
