Barbara A. Flynn, 74, of Springfield, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, at her residence.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center in Springfield.
Mrs. Flynn was born May 6, 1946, in Litchfield, the daughter of Walter D. and Blanche (McGregar) Gilbert.
A graduate of Litchfield High School, she owned and operated an in-home licensed day care. She also worked for Horace Mann, Franklin Life, Kmart and Sam’s Club until her retirement. She kept an immaculate home and enjoyed collecting knick-knacks. Above all, she was devoted to her family.
She is survived by her sons, Lance (Christina) Flynn and Chad (Cara) Flynn; grandchildren, Brendon Flynn, Greggory Flynn, Aaliyah Flynn, Savannah Flynn and Landon Flynn; stepgrandchildren, Alicia Barlow, Kari Beckum and Sami Faith; great-grandchildren, Adalyn Barlow and Shelby Bouvet; half-brother, Loy Rice; father of her children, Albert “Gene” E. (Cheri) Flynn, Jr.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter Dewey Gilbert and James Gilbert; a sister, Marie Mills; and a half-brother, William Rice.
