Auburn Takes Top Spot Despite Brockmeyer’s Win

Posted

Nate Brockmeyer shot a 1-over-par 33 to earn medalist honors at Oak Hill Country Club in Girard on Monday, Sept. 13, but Auburn countered with five rounds in the 30s as they defeated the Lancers in a triangular.

The Lancers shot a 165 as a team, with three birdies on the day. The Trojans would be just a bit better, though, with five rounds between 36 and 39 to shoot a 150 as a team, 15 strokes better than the Lancers and 57 better than third place North Mac (207).

Brockmeyer had two of Lincolnwood’s three birdies, with five pars, a bogey and a double bogey completing his round at the small, but tricky Macoupin County course.

Levi Weir had the other birdie and joined Brockmeyer in the 30s with a 6-over-par 38. Lincolnwood’s other two scoring rounds were both 47s, from Colton Tischkau and Brady Schmedeke, while Will Jenkins (48) and Drake Germann (49) weren’t far behind in the fifth and sixth slots.

After the trip to Girard, the Lancers hit the south side of Macoupin County on Tuesday, Sept. 14, as they played Ramsey and South County at Timber Lakes Golf Course in Staunton.

Unfortunately, lightning forced the cancellation of that match before it could be completed.

The Lancers will be back at home on Friday, Sept. 17, for a challenging match against Auburn, Hillsboro and North Mac at Shoal Creek Golf Course in Raymond.
