Arlene Rodgers Shoemaker, 84, of Jensen Beach, FL, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Trinity Methodist Church in Jensen Beach on Sunday, Mar. 6, 2022.

Mrs. Shoemaker was born Mar. 12, 1937, the daughter of Louis and Opal Rodgers, in Calendar, IA. She married Richard Rouse in 1955. She later married Donald J. Shoemaker.

Mrs. Shoemaker retired as a realtor in 2005 and opened a sewing shop in Jensen Beach. She was a wonderful volunteer,  working at Hibiscus House, cooking for the children on weekends, and then at the thrift store. She had a love for life and people, loved sewing, and loved her church, family, friends and her home in Florida.

She is survived by her sister Bonnie (husband Jim) Drew of Texas; three children, Orrie (wife Betty) Rouse of Energy, Donna (husband Gary) Yeske of Witt, and John (wife Lucinda) Rouse of Mt. Juliet, TN; step-children Craig (wife Jane) Shoemaker of Kennesaw, GA, and Kent Shoemaker of FL; grandchildren Kendra (husband Michael) McSperritt of Hillsboro, Kassie (husband Cody) Greenwood of Irving, and Kelly (wife Jessica) Yeske of Herrin; step-grandchildren Kara, Krista and Matthew Shoemaker of TN, Lauren (husband Chris) Grimsley of Bradenton, FL, Ashley Brummett of Portland, OR, Kelsey Perry of Hendersonville, TN, and Meagan (husband Cameron) Webster of Hermitage, TN; eight great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Shoemaker was preceded in death by her parents; late husband Donald; and five brothers.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to Hibiscus House or Trinity Methodist Church in Jensen Beach in her honor.
