Anthony 'Tony' L. Hayes, 48

Anthony "Tony" L. Hayes, 48, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, at 10:03 a.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Lawton, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Hillsboro, officiating. Burial will be held in Wares Grove Cemetery in rural Butler.

Mr. Hayes was born Aug. 9, 1971, in Hillsboro, to the late Earl L. and Mary Ann (Henson) Hayes.

A 1989 graduate of Hillsboro High School, he attended Robert Morris School of Business in Springfield.  He worked at Wareco and IGA in Hillsboro, and at Walmart in Litchfield. 

As a child, he attended Wares Grove Church. He loved to shoot pool, and was a Chicago Bears fan and a Cincinnati Reds fan. He enjoyed WWF wrestling, as well as being with his family, including his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his siblings, Ruth (husband Steve) Ernst of Hillsboro, and Kenneth (wife Maureen) Hayes of Butler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Donna Jean Hayes, Merle Ann Weller and Louis "Lee" E. Hayes.

Memorials may be made to Myotonic Dystrophy or Wares Grove Cemetery in rural Butler.
