Allen R. Van Hyning, 81, of Butler, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, at 12:13 p.m. at Montgomery County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

Cremation rites were accorded. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. in Wares Grove Cemetery in rural Butler with Mark Noyes of Hillsboro officiating. Military rites will be provided by VFW Post 1306 and American Legion Post 425. COVID-19 CDC guidelines will be followed, using masks and social distancing. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mr. Van Hyning was born March 2, 1939, in Hillsboro, the son of the late Rolland Lewis and Laura Mildred (Hudson) Van Hyning. 

A graduate of Hillsboro High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army in Korea. In addition to living in Butler, he also lived in Australia, Washington and St. Louis, MO, during his lifetime. He worked in Australia for Dassault Aviation, finishing airplanes, as well as Boeing in Washington and St. Louis, MO. He also worked at Echlin Brake in Litchfield and later he became a full-time farmer.

He is survived by many friends, including Curt and Brenda Pocklington.
