Allen G. Korte, 67, of Highland, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, and from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Pierron. The Rev. Fr. Pat G. Jakel, pastor at St. Paul Catholic Church, officiating.
Mr. Korte was born on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 1955, in Highland, IL, the son of the late Vincent and Linette (nee Ganter) Korte. He grew up on a farm northeast of Pierron, and attended school in Highland and worked on the family dairy farm. He lived and worked in Vandalia and then in Greenville, where he was a wood worker. In 1999, he moved to Highland and worked for C.C.R.C. in Breese. Mr. Korte moved to a community home in Highland in 1999, and four years ago to Clinton Manor, in New Baden. Socializing and connecting with people and amazing memory. He enjoyed putting together puzzles, coloring, playing bingo, and reading.
He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland.
He is survived by his siblings, brothers Thomas V. of Highland, Edwin J. (Sandra) of Greenville, Dennis R. (Cynthia) of Pocahontas and Wayne R. (Linda) Korte of Pocahontas; nephews Brent A. (Heather) Korte of Highland, Ryan T. (Kelly) Korte of Colorado Springs, CO, Chad M. (Jenny) Korte of Grosse Ile, MI, Kent J. (Traci) Korte of Pocahontas and Kyle R. (Emily) Korte of Pocahontas; nieces Dena L. (Scott) Deibert of Ursa and Nicole A. (Jake) Zambaldi of Maryville; nephew-in-law Carl Plage of Pocahontas; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father Vincent A. Korte on Feb. 27, 1995, and mother Linette R. Korte on Oct. 18, 2013; nephew Timothy J. Korte on Dec. 18, 1997; niece Karla M. Plage on Jan. 16,2021; and sister-in-law Marion E. Korte on Feb. 18, 2021.
