Alice Alvina Lindsay, 91, of Litchfield, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at Hallmark Healthcare of Carlinville.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Witt Cemetery.   Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Lindsay was born Nov. 28, 1932, in Witt to Delbert and Cleo (Oller) Garwood, and both preceded her in death.  She and Thomas Leroy Lindsay were married Sept. 8, 1956, in Witt, and he preceded her in death in 1971.  
Mrs. Lindsay was a homemaker and stay at home mom, raising her eleven children.  She was a strong, outspoken lady that stuck to what she put her mind to do and a firm believer in the Lord.  Her pastimes included putting together puzzles and working crossword puzzles, even when her eye sight was failing, watching westerns on TV and being outside in the summer. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy in life.  
Mrs. Lindsay is survived by her children, Kenneth Lindsay of Rushville, Barbara Thompson of Irving, Steve Lindsay of Vandalia, Lisa (Terry) Hancock of Litchfield, Lou (Tim) Plowman of Concord, David (Lisa) Lindsay of Litchfield and Thomas (Lori) Lindsay of Hillsboro; stepchildren, Les (Sherry) Lindsay of Tower Hill and Linda Jackson of Tower Hill; sister, Carol Owens of Witt; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Lindsay was preceded in death by her sons, Darrell Lindsay and James Mehlberg; grandsons, Brian Mehlberg, James Brown,Tory Lindsay and granddaughter, Robin Brown; and siblings, Norman Garwood, Grace Meier, Nancy Gruen, Jerry Garwood and Lamar Garwood.
