William Lykins, 72, of Brodhead, KY, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, KY.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 14, at Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals Chapel in Brodhead, KY. Burial followed at Piney Grove Cemetery in Brodhead, KY.

Mr. Lykins was born on Oct. 26, 1945, in Berea, KY, to Luther G. and LaVerne (Bussell) Lykins. He married Carol Trost on April 9, 1966, and she survives.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era.

Mr. Lykins was a CEO for numerous Community Banks throughout Illinois; director of Community Bankers Association of Illinois; president, director and developer of the Raymond Shoal Creek Golf Course and was a member of Lion's Club and Kiwanis.

He attended Northern Kentucky Chase College of Law, and served as an adjunct professor at Eastern Kentucky University.

Mr. Lykins found great joy in woodworking, sports and music.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his father of Brodhead, KY; sons, Nicholas R. (Alicia) Lykins of St. Charles, Justin Bo Lykins of Brodhead, KY, and Ryan M. (Cassandra) Lykins of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Victoria "Torie" Scott and Seth "Brodie", Reina, Austin, Olivia, Wyatt, Jaidyn and Ryder Lykins; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Jozie Scott; as well as a host of cousins, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his mother; and a son, Douglas William Lykins.
