Stanley D. Eyman, 70, of rural Donnellson, died on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 1:30 p.m. surrounded by his family.

Memorial services will be held at the Donnellson Community Building at a later date. Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Eyman was born Jan 5, 1948, on the Eyman farm near Pittsburg, to Claude Roscoe and Geneva (Voris) Eyman. He married Sharon L. McFall on May 18, 1974, in Jacksonville, and she survives.

He attended the Maple Grove one room school, Vandalia Junior High School and graduated from Vandalia High School with the class of 1966. He worked at the Kroger store and attended Kaskaskia College just before joining the U.S. Navy on Jan. 21, 1969.

Mr. Eyman rose to the rank of E-5, serving overseas during the Vietnam War as a radioman. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 20, 1975, and received the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, Combat Action Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (from his time in Korea) and the Navy Unit Commendation Medal.

He returned home and worked for the Illinois Auditing Association for a year, then attended Sparks College and began his career with Demoulin Brothers Cap and Gown in 1982. A few years later, he would become a purchasing agent in 1986, retiring in 2010.

Mr. Eyman enjoyed farming, old cars and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.

In addition to his wife of 44 years, he is survived by his four daughters, Jeannina Langel of Donnellson, Lynn (Chad) Brazeau of Fillmore, Kerry (Kevin Hanson) Eyman of Missoula, MT, and Sara (Garrett Bunyard) Eyman of Greenville; nine grandchildren, Amanda, Kyle, Emelia, Tyler (Karley), Andrew, Gunner, Emery, Oliver and Mason; four great-grandchildren, Logan, Morgan, Haylen and Teddy; a sister, Carol (Dane) Lennington of Greenville; and a brother, David Eyman of Pittsburg.

Memorials may be directed to Eden's Glory, Siteman Cancer Center or a local food pantry, all of which can be made at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.
