Mt. Moriah and MRC Realty Professionals are teaming up to honor those on the front line of public safety during First Responders Appreciation Day, set for Saturday, April 27, at the Masonic Lodge in Hillsboro.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and features displays, demonstrations and door prizes.
First responders from every county agency–police, fire departments, EMS and dispatchers–are invited to attend in uniform. Lunch will be provided for each first responder.
A fire truck show will run from 10 to 11 a.m. and conclude with an extrication demonstration by the Hillsboro Fire Department using a vehicle donated by Elam's Towing. A police squad car show will run from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. The department with the best fire truck and the best police squad car in the show will each win a $100 gift card from Ray O'Herron, a first responder supply company.
In addition, one first responder participating department will have the opportunity to win a $500 Ray O'Herron gift card.
Ray O'Herron will also be among those with displays, as well as AT&T with the FirstNet cell package, Dinges Fire Company, Roger Jennings, Arch Helicopter, and Chad Roach of CRC Guns.
The event will also feature a raffle for an AR-15; tickets are $10 each.
The every-other-year event is not a fundraiser, but donations are welcome.
