Shirley Louise Satterlee, 76, of Springfield, died at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 7, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, with Greg Stafford- Chaplain Springfield Memorial Hospital officiating. Burial followed at Roselawn Memorial Park. Butler Funeral Home-Springfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Satterlee was born on July 21, 1947, in Litchfield, the daughter of William H. and Opal L. Wilson Hefley. She married Gary L. Satterlee on Sept. 5, 1965, in Litchfield, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 2015.
Mrs. Satterlee was a 1965 graduate of Litchfield High School. She was a past president of the American Legion #32 Ladies Auxilliary. Mrs. Satterlee worked as an administrative assistant for the Railroad Maintenance Industrial Health and Welfare Industries. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Mrs. Satterlee is survived by her children Scott (Lori) Satterlee of Murphysboro, John A. (Teresa) Satterlee of Springfield, Brian Satterlee of O’Fallon and Sandi (Frank) Staley of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Jessica and Branden (Jessie) Satterlee, Shelby (Matt) Ahlfield, and Nicholas, Michael (Gracie), Morgan and Matthew Satterlee; four great-grandchildren, Emersyn and Thomas Satterlee, and Bennett and Natalie Ahlfield; nine siblings, Linda (Hansil) Hartle of MO, Penny (Chris) Brown of Girard, Billie Jean Cornell of Harrisburg, Tammy Jenkins of AZ, Kenneth Hefley of Beardstown, Dorothy Hendricker of Beardstown, Jack (Madeline) Hefley of Beardstown and Terry (Kim) Hefley of Bath; many nieces and nephews; and her favorite companion, Paco.
In addition to her husband and parents, she preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Mae Eddington, Mary Alice Hefley and Janel Jones.
