Shirley A. Holman, 79, of Vandalia, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at Fayette County Hospital LTC in Vandalia.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 28, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will be held in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia.

Mrs. Holman was born May 9, 1939, in Vandalia, the daughter of Clarence A. and Dorothy E. (Forbes) Kistler. She married Delano R. Holman on Aug. 13, 1955, in Iuka, MS, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1993. 

She was the former owner and operator of West End Greenhouse, and was formerly employed at P.N. Hirsch Warehouse and Johnson, Stephen, Shinkle Shoe Company, all of Vandalia.

She is survived by sons, Ed (Mary) Holman of Round Rock, TX, William "Bill" (Helen) Holman of Brownstown and Allen (Bobbie) Holman of Fillmore; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wallace Kistler of Arthur, John Kistler and Mike Kistler, both of Vandalia; and sisters, Jane Emerick and Maree Chambers, both of Vandalia.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Jim and Forrest "Punk" Kistler and sisters, Donna Bell and Carol Harris.
