Robert (Bob) McEwen, 70, of Litchfield, died on Wednesday, April 25, in the hospice care unit at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, MO.

His wishes were that his friends and family would remember him as he was in his healthier years, and per his request there will be no formal funeral service, but a simple private family memorial, planned for a later date.

Mr. McEwen was born on June 30, 1947, in St. Louis, MO, to William and Dorothy June McEwen.  He and his first wife, Carol, were married in 1967 and later divorced in 1989.  He married Sharon (Weiss) Batty on Sept. 18, 1995, and she survives.

He was a veteran and served four years in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at several bases including Andersen Air Force Base in Guam for 18 months.  He graduated from Rolla School of Mines at the University of Missouri with an engineering degree and had worked in several machine manufacturing plants as a draftsman and later as a plant manager.  He ended his working career in steel sales and steel plant management.

His hobbies included boating on Lake Lou Yaeger, photography, playing Euchre, motorcycling with his son or with friends, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also traveled extensively, both in and outside the United States, with his wife, Sharon, and was a member of Litchfield Moose Lodge 1634.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Bradley McEwen of Bridgeton, MO; three stepchildren, Brett Batty of Litchfield, Jennifer (Brad) Farris of Charlotte, NC, and Ryan Batty of Murfreesboro, TN; and three step-grandchildren, Reid and Campbell Farris of Charlotte, NC, and Avery Batty of Hillsboro.
