Robb E. Isaacs, 78, of Springfield, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at 10:49 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

A private family graveside service will be held at Old Salem Cemetery, with the Rev. Nicole Cox officiating. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life, with light refreshments on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 2200 Meadowbrook Rd. in Springfield. Cremation rites will be accorded by the Bisch Crematory in Springfield.

Mr. Isaacs was born Aug. 11, 1940, in Litchfield, to the late Leland "Glenn" and Helen (Schubert) Isaacs. He married his wife, Carole, 27 years ago, and she survives.

The owner and operator of Isaacs Refrigeration for many years, he retired in 1999, when his son, Gary took over to continue the business. He served for many years, in many capacities with the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society, and became president and CEO in 1999. He would continue there until a second retirement in 2006.

After his second retirement, he and his wife,Carole, fulfilled a "bucket list" trip, where they traveled to Alaska in their RV and spent three months. It was quite an adventure and one he talked about for many years to come.

Mr. Isaacs had a passion for Boy Scouts, and revived Troop 302 in Pleasant Plains, where he continued to serve as Scout Master, even after his son graduated.

He was a member of the Left Handers Gun Club, the Plumbers, Steamfitters and HVACR Local 137, and the YMCA, where he was a member of the Aquatic Group. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Gary (wife Sam) of Pleasant Plains; daughter, Linda (husband Tim) Reiser of Springfield; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four stepchildren, Cindy Ferree of New Mexico, Jeanette (husband Tim) Horne of Texas, Dennis (wife Nina) Ferree and Denise Green, both of Springfield; 15 stepgrandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Sibons of Orlando, FL, and Nancy (husband Edward) Peterson of Fairfield, IA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
