Patrick “Pat” Russell Janssen, 59, of Standard City died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Carlinville Moose Lodge, located at 801 Pine Street in Carlinville, from 2 to 5 p.m. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mr. Janssen was born April 6, 1964, in Carlinville to Erma (Clark) and Lawrence Janssen and they preceded him in death. He graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1982, and after graduation he began his career as an iron worker carpenter.
His family was always first in his life. He enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing, reading old westerns, woodworking, grilling out, bow hunting and participating in dart leagues.
Mr. Janssen is survived by his sons, Ivan Evans of New Port News, VA, and Larry Janssen (Elizabeth Tucker) of Standard City; stepchildren, Alexander Woolard of Cooz Bay, OR, Elizabeth (Toby) Stewart of Nokomis, Amanda (Travis) Smith of Fullton, MA, Williams Sanders of Standard City and Jeffrey Sanders of Standard City; his companion, Dawn Sanders of Standard City; brothers, Dennis (Shawn) Janssen of Gillespie, Larry (Kris) Janssen of Carlinville, Mike (Patti) Janssen of Carlinville; sister Joyce (Terry) Hermann of Elwood City, PA and seven grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Matthew Janssen, in infancy.
