Mike Pashia, 55, of Sorento, died on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at his home with his loving family at his side.

A Celebration of Life was held on Monday, May 29, at the Pashia family’s residence. Asalley Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Pashia was born on Dec. 13, 1967, the son of Joseph and Vella (Niswonger) Pashia. He married Christina Jo Paul on January 31, 2015, in Sorento. Family was very important to Mr. Pashia, being one of six children, there was always lots of camaraderie.  Just about every Sunday was filled with big family dinners, competitive UNO card games, laughter and practical jokes. He had a larger-than-life personality.

In high school, Mr. Pashia played the trumpet in the marching band, football and baseball.  Following high school, he served in the United States Navy as a radioman on the Destroyer U.S.S. Waddell and fought in the Persian Gulf War. Mr. Pashia began his career in the prison system as a Correctional Officer in 1993. He retired from FCI Greenville after 30 years of service in 2020. Mr. Pashia was loved by his fellow officers.

He met his wife, the love of his life, in 2010, and was an amazing father to her two children. Mr. Pashia loved his home and was always working on an outdoor project.  His biggest joy was their granddaughter, Rori, whom he called “My Bugger.” They had a very special bond, and his last few years were spent spoiling her endlessly.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Pashia is survived by his children, Brendan Pashia of Festus, MO, Hunter (Morgan Zbinden) Booth of Hillsboro and Lexi Booth of Sorento; granddaughter, Aurora Booth of Hillsboro; and siblings, Robert (Sandra) Pashia of Union, MO, Catherine (Kevin) Bone of Farmington, MO, Stephen Pashia of Belleville, Barbara (Fred) Lyles of De Soto, MO, and Mary (Gregory) Basse of St. Louis, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great nephew, Trey Krodinger.
