Melanie Lois Raleigh, 52, of Pawnee, died Wednesday, Nov 14, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 30, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A private memorial service will follow, with the Rev. A.B. Bennett officiating.
Mrs. Raleigh was born March 16, 1966, in Litchfield, the daughter of George E. and Cherrill F. (Smith) Kimbro. She married Robert W. Raleigh on Oct. 17, 1992, at the First Presbyterian Church in Springfield, and he survives in Pawnee.
She graduated from Raymond Lincolnwood High School in 1984. She attended Lincoln Land Community College and Sangamon State University (now the University of Illinois at Springfield), where she earned a bachelor's degree in 1990. She worked at Luers Uniforms and Shoes in Springfield for 30 years and purchased the business in 2016.
Family was very important to her. She was active in Pawnee High School's parent/teacher organization, and she attended many of her children's football and basketball games and activities.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Nathan W. Raleigh of Pawnee; one daughter, Katelyne L. Raleigh of Pawnee; her parents, George and Cherrill Kimbro of Waggoner; grandmother, Virginia Smith of Bethalto; one sister, Melissa F. Kimbro of St. Louis, MO; one brother, Martin E. (wife Christa) Kimbro of Waggoner; two nieces; four nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
