Maurice (Mac) Jesse McCollom, 87, of Harlingen, TX  died at 11:35 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20 2018, at his winter home in Harlingen, TX.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sunwest Sunseekers clubhouse at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, in Harlingen, TX.

Mr. McCollom was born on Feb. 4, 1931, to Jesse and Mabel (Jennings) McCollom in Hettick.  He graduated from Northwestern High School in Palmyra in 1949. 

Mr. McCollom married Virginia S. Coffey on May 26, 1972, in Hillsboro. The couple resided in Hillsboro until Mr. McCollom retired from Conrail Railroad in 1993. Following retirement the couple moved to Branson, MO. After the move, Mr. McCollom changed career paths and became a car parking attendant for the Box Car Willie Show and later for the Mickey Gilley Theater.

Mr. McCollom spent most of his time fishing with friends and attending shows. He officially retired for a second time at the age of 80. Following this second retirement the McColloms decided to move to a warmer area during the winter months and moved to Harlingen, TX, returning to Branson, MO for the summer months. 

Mr. McCollom was well- known for his sense of humor and spent a good deal of time playing cards and dominoes. He loved to go to the jam sessions in and around the park where he lived.

Mr. McCollom made many dear friends in Hillsboro, Branson, MO and Harlingen, TX, as well as his hometown of Hettick and Palmyra. 

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; six children, Renee Joe, Roxanne Sitzes, Craig McCollom, Kris Carpenter, Lori Zanni and Tracy Collins;12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. 

Mr. McCollom was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lawrence, Howard and Homer (Roe); a granddaughter; a grandson; two nephews; one niece; two great-nieces and one great-nephew.
