Mark W. Caldwell, 64, of Hillsboro, died on Friday, March 8, 2019, at 7:40 a.m. at his residence.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 16, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A memorial service will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. James Hayes, pastor of St. James Baptist Church of Hillsboro, officiating. Cremation rites were accorded. Burial will be held at a later date.

Mr. Caldwell was born Jan. 28, 1955, in Hillsboro, to Donald and Martha Alberta (Shelton) Caldwell. He married Denise Hammond, and they later divorced. He then married Annette Keith on April 1, 1993, in Hillsboro, and she survives.

He graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1973, and went on to serve as a coal miner at Crown 3 Mine in Farmersville for 30 years.

Mr. Caldwell lived in the Hillsboro area during his lifetime, and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose since 1979, Hillsboro Moose Lodge #1377 and United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) Local 12.

He loved to garden, play darts and pool and spend time in his garage.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Caldwell is survived by his children, Mark Lee (wife Jennifer) Caldwell of Maryville, Michelle (fiance Jeffrey Grundy) Caldwell of Harvel, Sonia (husband Chad) Wehrle of Vandalia and Kenneth (wife Kara) Rickman of Yelm, WA; eight grandchildren, Kerstie, Kayla, Radley, Rainey, Shyann, Summer, Paige and Leah; two great-grandchildren, Wrenae and Wraina; siblings, Kevin Caldwell of Bloomington, Michael (wife Melissa) Caldwell of Hillsboro, Gail (husband Ronald) Bergschneider of Harvel and Tammy (husband Keith) Johnson of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
