Margaret M. Steinhauser, 77

Margaret Mary "Dolly" Steinhauser, 77, of Mt. Olive, formerly of White City, died on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at 6:31 p.m. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 31, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Olive. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the cemetery with Father Thomas Hagstrom officiating. A eulogy will be given by her daughter, Anna Eccher and son, Joe Pianfetti.

Mrs. Steinhauser was born on April 18, 1940, in White City, to Matthew and Mary (Gorsich) Mihelcic. She married Dominic Frank Pianfetti on July 1, 1961, at the Church of Ascension in Mt. Olive, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1982. She later married Clarence Martin Steinhauser on Nov. 19, 1983, in the rectory of the Church of the Ascension in Mt. Olive, and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1999.

She attended White City Grade School, and graduated from Mt. Olive High School with the class of 1958.

Mrs. Steinhauser went on to work as a claims adjuster for Franklin Life Insurance Company in Springfield, and Jubelt's Bakery in Litchfield.

She then served as a health care worker for Illinois Valley Economic Group, working with the developmentally disabled. She was a caregiver for many years until her retirement.

Mrs. Steinhauser was a member of St. Paul II Catholic Church, formerly the Church of the Ascension, the Altar and Rosary Society, Mt. Olive Senior Citizens and VFW Women's Auxiliary.

She loved quilting, making many beautiful quilts, audio books, cooking, cutting grass on her riding mower and pets, especially her late dog Zilly and her cat Needy.

An avid Cubs fan, Mrs. Steinhauser enjoyed gambling and Bingo, could spend hours reminiscing about life in White City, and loved spoiling her great-grandson Davey.

She is survived by a son, Joe (Mary) Pianfetti of Carlyle; a daughter, Anna (Greg) Eccher of Mt. Olive; two brothers, Henry "Hank" Mihelcic of Belleville and John (Lois) Mihelcic of Mt. Olive; three sisters, Bernadine (Ed) Burg of Auburn, Cathy (Dan) Rhodes of Eagarville and Gloria "Cookie" (Ron) Ruppe of Sullivan, MO; grandchildren, Maggie (Steve) Judson, Patsy (Dave) Schmermund, Holly (Aaron) Tallman, Dominic (Diane) Eccher and Nick Pianfetti; one great-grandson, Davey Judson; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Marlene Mihelcic.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Donald Mihelcic; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Mihelcic.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Olive or Adopt-A-Pet in Benld.
