Marcus Clark Thomson, 75, of Hillsboro, died at 10:38 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, at his residence.
A visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 3, from 11 a.m. to noon at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro with the funeral service immediately following. Burial will be held at Donnellson Cemetery.
Mr. Thomson was born Dec. 28, 1947, in Hillsboro, to the late Ezra and Mable (Whitten) Thomson. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and received an associates degree from Vatterottt Educational Center in St. Louis. He married Loretta Maxine Sharp on June 22, 1974, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 2010.
He served four years in the U.S. Army and four in the Navy. He worked as a laborer at Olin, Eagle Zinc and International Paper. Mr. Thomson was very active in church ministry and music. He loved singing and playing the guitar.
He is survived by his two children, Scott Thomson of Divernon and Michelle Thomson of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Autumn Smith, Isaiah Gates, John Thomson, Sonya Thomson, Renee Thomson and Crystal Thomson; two sisters, Marcia (Jim) Soper of New Mexico and Mary Ellen Brown of Springfield.
Mr. Thomson was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sister, Linda Gresham.
