Laura A. Draper, 93, of Hillsboro, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at 6:56 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 12, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A Funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, with Father Daniel Willenborg, pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, officiating. Burial will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Mrs. Draper was born Feb. 21, 1925, in East Fultonham, OH, to the late John T. and Juanita (Napier) Weller. She married Dr. Clifford W. Draper on Aug. 17, 1946, in Covington, KY, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2013.

She graduated from high school in Zanesville, OH, and she received her BS RN from Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH.

She  lived in the Hillsboro area since 1948. She was an RN at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, as well as St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. She then worked in Home Health Care, which she loved. She spent her whole life as a caregiver.

Mrs. Draper was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, as well as the Red Cross, where she taught swimming lessons for 32 years, and enjoyed all water sports. She was also a member of  the Hillsboro Area Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, where she was named Woman of the Year in 1997.

A longtime member of the Hillsboro Country Club, where she loved to golf, she also loved to do artistic work, refinish and recane furniture. She was also a lover of animals and supported the ASPCA.

She is survived by one son, Bill (wife Kim) Draper of Hillsboro; one daughter, Mary Draper (husband Bruno) Valente of Milford, MI; and two grandsons, Jack Draper and Owen Draper, both of Hillsboro.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Weller.
