Larry Summer, 74, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 6, at 11 a.m. in Girard Cemetery. Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Summer was born Feb. 9, 1944, in Carlinville, the son of the late Lawrence and Audrey (Bridges) Summer. He married Gloria Jean Smith on June 18, 1990, and she survives.

He was employed as a truck driver at Rovey Seed in Farmersville prior to his retirement. He will be greatly missed for his sense of humor and love for his family.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Joe (wife Megan) Sanders, Barbie Sanders and Malinda (husband Nile) Ginger; grandchildren, Grace and Gregory Sanders, Amber Mendenhall, Cash and Colt Hubble, Kyle and Justin Ginger and Waylon Lobb; great-grandchildren, Matthew and MacKenzie Camfield and Greyson Hubble; two brothers, Kenneth (wife Linda) Summer of Girard and William "Ralph" (wife Susie) Summer of Williamsville, MO; two aunts, Lucille Thomas and Jane Delay, both of Springfield; uncle, Leroy Bridges of Carlinville, many nieces, nephews and cousins; and other extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Bridget and sister, Barbara Brown.
