Herman Henry Greene, 93, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at 4:25 a.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at 2 p.m. at St. James Baptist Church in Hillsboro, with the Rev. James Hayes, pastor of St. James Baptist Church, officiating. Military rites will be accorded by VFW Post 1306 and American Legion Post 425. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Greene was born April 19, 1925, in Duluth, MN, the son of Ernest and Blanche (Johnson) Greene. He married Billie Claybrook on Sept. 10, 1985, in Los Angeles, CA, and she survives in Hillsboro.

A graduate of  Roosevelt High School in 1943 in Gary IN, he was also a graduate from Pasadena School of Engineering in Pasadena, CA.  He was a WWII veteran with the second Cavalry Division of the army.

A food manager with the California Department of Corrections for 22 years, he retired in 1972. He lived in Los Angeles, CA, for 50 years, and moved to Hillsboro in 1993.

Mr. Greene was a member of St. James Baptist Church in Hillsboro and the Hillsboro Lions Club, where he was a past president.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Ronald Greene of Hemet, CA, Michael Greene of Los Angeles, CA, and Anthony Greene of Pamona, CA; three daughters, Gwen Schuler and Cynthia Keins, both of Washington, and Alexandria Gilliam of Las Vegas, NV; one stepdaughter, Ininia Wideman of Springfield; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Jackueline Greene and Marilyn Haycke; five brothers; and four sisters.
