Harrison J. 'Skip' Graden, 50

Harrison John "Skip" Graden, 50, of Nokomis, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, at 9 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Nokomis. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.

Mr. Graden was born June 27, 1968, in Taylorville, the son of David E. Graden and Janet E. Yarbrough.

He was an avid chef and had completed 14 years of education.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Nokomis, he was a member of the Honor Society at St. Louis Community College and the MS Society.  He also established an online blog for MS support called "I have MS and I am a stronger person for it."

In addition to his parents, who reside together in Coalton, he is survived by his children, Harrison J. (Shon) Graden, Jr. of East Alton and Merissa JN (fiance Eric Smay) of East Alton; grandchildren, Robert A. and Eragon E. Smay, sisters, Julia (Donald) Arndt of Collinsville and Jeannine Graden of Phoenix, AZ; and brother, Andrew (Tami) Graden of Nokomis.

Memorials may be made to the family or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
