Gina Rae Gonet, 57, of Maryville, died Sunday, Nov.  5, 2023 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, surrounded by those she loved most.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Collinsville Rec Club, located at 427 S. Mulberry Rd. in Collinsville on Friday, Nov. 17, at 4 p.m. All are welcome and encouraged to bring funny stories and pictures to share. The family has entrusted Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights with arrangements.

Mrs. Gonet was born on Aug. 24, 1966 in Hillsboro, to Ralph and Gail (Morgan) Heck of Nokomis, and they survive.

She worked for J. O. Bauer Orthodontist in Edwardsville for many years, where she made lifelong friendships. She then worked as the office manager for Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville for many years and most recently for Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights.

Mrs. Gonet enjoyed making memories with her family and friends. She loved a good beach vacation, camping, trying new restaurants (with the frequent margarita), watching movies and bingeing new shows with her husband. She always looked forward to going out with her girlfriends for “Book Club” and playing cards and games with her mother and sisters.

Mrs. Gonet had a keen sense of style and always looked amazing. She was beautiful inside and out and her smile and kindness made people gravitate to her. She never had an unkind word for anyone, except for the occasional act of road rage.

Above all else, Mrs. Gonet was the light of her family’s life. She had amazingly strong bonds with her children and always let them know how much she loved and cared for them. Mrs. Gonet cherished her family dearly, and her granddaughters were her pride and joy. They spent countless hours working on puzzles, playing Barbies and snuggling. They will forever be reminded of the love she had for them.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gonet is survived by her husband, Joseph V. Gonet of Maryville; children, Madison Gonet (Tom Theodor) of Highland and Nic Gonet (Mallory Abert) of Edwardsville; her adored granddaughters, Lucy Rae and Kollins Lola; siblings, Jay (Carrie) Heck of Lake Charles, Tami Heck of Nokomis and Jayne (Jeff) Hebrank of Ladue, MO; and her faithful four-legged companion, Macie.

Memorial donations in Gina's name may be made to Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Maryville.
