Gavin Cody Twitty, 22, of Highland, formerly of Witt, died on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at 11:32 p.m. as a result of a single car accident.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the church with the very Rev. Albert Allen VF officiating.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Nokomis. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Twitty was born Feb. 5, 1996, in Hillsboro, to Scott Allen and Jennifer K. (Lemanski) Twitty.
He attended St. Louis Catholic School in Nokomis and graduated from Hillsboro High School. While in high school, he was a member of the track and wrestling teams, but loved playing as a running back for the football team, rushing for more than 2,800 yards.
Mr. Twitty was a student at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville and worked nights for UPS. He served in the Illinois National Guard and was part of the Brute Force and Ignorance Mercenaries Rugby Team out of Maryville.
