Elmer Ray Hicks, 77, of Decatur, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at 10:45 a.m. at his residence with his loving wife and daughters by his side.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Graceland-Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Gambrill officiating. Burial will be held in Harristown Cemetery.
Mr. Hicks was born Dec. 31, 1940, in Nokomis, to Lester Alexander and Estelle LaVeda (Sanders) Hicks. He married Sandra Lynn True on Nov. 16, 1957, in Decatur, and she survives.
He was a proud union brother of United Rubber Workers Local 713, retiring from Bridgestone Firestone after 25 years of service.
In addition to his loving wife of 61 years, he is survived by his two daughters, Denise (Tim) Cox of LeRoy and Teri (Mike) Pape of Bloomington; grandson, Josh (Nichole) Cox of LeRoy; four granddaughters, Rachel (Stuart) Koerner of LeRoy, Camilyn Pape of Decatur, Marci Pape and Nikki Pape, both of Bloomington; six great-grandchildren; sister, Midgie Weatherford of Litchfield; several nieces and nephews; and his sweet dog, Molly.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
