Edward Joseph Wujek, 96, of Litchfield, died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Litchfield.  

A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield with Fr. Robert Porter officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m.  Cremation will follow the services.   

Mr. Wujek was born on April 7, 1922, in LaSalle-Peru, a son of Stanley and Agnes (Olsztynski) Wujek. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp and served on Guadalcanal in the South Pacific during World War II.    

He married Amelia Lola Garcia on June 29, 1946, in DePue, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 6, 2014. He was a member of Holy Family Parish in Litchfield and Holy Cross Parish in Mendota.  He served as a volunteer on the Mendota Ambulance Service for several years. Over the years, he was self-employed as a farmer.  He had also owned a restaurant, worked as a truck driver and was a watchmaker.  

He is survived by a son, Dr. Roger (Donna) Wujek, of Litchfield; a daughter, Susan Wujek of Chillicothe; two grandchildren, Dr. Dan (Rachael) Wujek of Litchfield and Michelle (Roy) Schieferdecker of Litchfield; six great-grandchildren, Julia, Anthony and Joshua Bader, William and Michael Wujek, and Lane Schieferdecker.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Frank and Steve Wujek; and two sisters, Louise Witte and Rosemary Allert.
