Doris M. Sorrells, 90

Doris M. (Pocock) Sorrells, 90, of Raymond, died on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Tremont Ridge Assisted Living in Hillsboro.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at A Community of Faith Church in Raymond. An additional visitation will be held Thursday, March 28, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with Tom Mulch officiating. Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sorrells was born Feb. 23, 1929, in Nokomis, to Chester and Pearl (Pray) Pocock. She married Earl Sorrells on June 20, 1948, in Nokomis, and he survives.

She was a graduate of Nokomis High School, and went on to work on the family farm, including bringing daily lunch to those working. Additionally, she served at Sorrells Farm Supply in Raymond.

Mrs. Sorrells was a member of A Community of Faith Church in Raymond, Illinois Livestock Feeders, Raymond-Harvel Kiwanis, Local Eastern Star and was a 31-year member of the Raymond Buckeyes 4-H and Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame.

A sunshine lady, she did promotions for the Illinois Soybean Association and participated in commodity day at the Illinois Extension office.

In addition to her husband for over 70 years, Mrs. Sorrells is survived by four children, Mark (Nancy) Sorrells of New York, Jean (David) Fuchs and Kent (Sandy) Sorrells, both of Raymond, and Brenda (Blake) Cloyd of Springfield; ten grandchildren, Shawn Sorrells of Pennsylvania, Trevor Sorrells of New York, Gwen (Dustin) Ziegler of Washington, Rachael (Jon) Root of Colorado, Garrett (Sydney) Fuchs of Harvel, Ben (Katie) Cloyd of Colorado, Bart (Melanie) Cloyd of Michigan, Brooke (Zach) Bell of Springfield, Tara (Zach) Gahr of Normal and Megan (Bard) Humbert of Chicago; 13 great-grandchildren, Morgan and Mia Root, Layla and Emma Ziegler, Vale and Reid Fuchs, Beckett and Lincoln Cloyd, Cooper and Tucker Bell, Charlotte Cloyd and Riley and Reese Gahr; and one sister, Donna Clayton of Colton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild, Tonya Fuchs; and a sister, Jean Johnson.
