David Cole Boone, 71, of Hillsboro, died on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, at 12:15 a.m. at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Cremation rites were accorded and burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro. No services are planned at this time. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Boone was born Feb. 5, 1947, in Hillsboro, to Ross Ellis and Josephine (Cole) Boone.
He graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1965, and earned his bachelor's degree in mass communications at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville.
Mr. Boone was a previous owner of the Coliseum Ballroom in Benld, and also shared his talents as an artist. With a passion for painting, he created many murals around the area. He lived in the Hillsboro area during his lifetime.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Rhonda Edwards, Daniel Boone and Tobi Buchanan; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mr. Boone was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Kenneth Ross Boone.
