Charlene Butler, 81

M. Charlene Butler, 81, of Hillsboro, died on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will  be conducted Friday, Dec. 7, beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Keith Halsey officiating. Burial will follow at Cress Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Mrs. Butler was born on Sept. 16, 1937, in Hillsboro, to Charles and Mamie (Fenton) Hemken. She married James "Jim" Butler on April 1, 1956, and he preceded her in death on June 7, 2017.

A graduate of Hillsboro High School, she enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys and Elvis Presley. She was a member of the Raymond Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star Herman Chapter 95, where she served as a past worthy matron.

Mrs. Butler worked in housekeeping at Hillsboro Area Hospital for over 17 years, cleaned homes and had worked at the grain elevators in Coffeen and Taylor Springs.

She is survived by two sons, Rob (wife Cindy) Butler of Mt. Olive and Ron (Tammy) Butler of Irving; one daughter, Teresa Elam of Baytown, TX; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Delores Neathery, Louise Russell and Norma Shipman.

Memorials may be directed to the Raymond Baptist Church.
