Betty Jean Niesmann, 92, of Fairbury, died at 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Goldwater Care of Pontiac.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., on Wednesday, July 5, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Fairbury. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Herrera officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Fairbury is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Niesmann was born on Dec. 9, 1930 in Hillsboro, the daughter of Raleigh and Jessie Pearl (McLaine) Scott. She married Kenneth A. Niesmann Sr., on Dec. 27, 1956, in Hillsboro, and he preceded her in death in Aug. 1973.
Mrs. Niesmann was a graduate of Hillsboro Community High School, Cornhusker Beauty School and received her LPN certificate from Kankakee Community College. She worked at the Fairbury Hospital for 23 years and Fairview Haven Retirement Community for 15 years as an LPN. She was also a licensed beautician. Mrs. Niesmann was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury. She volunteered with the Red Cross for 40 years.
Mrs. Niesmann is survived by her daughter, Kendra Herrera of Normal; three grandchildren, Chadwick (Michelle Bagley) Brown, Mark (Hannah) Herrera and Michael (Rachel) Herrera; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; three sisters; a son, Kenneth A. Niesmann Jr.; and a daughter, Rita Brown.
