Beatrice M. (Staples) Johnson, 97, of Oak Park, died on Oct. 16, 2021, at Meadowbrook Manor in LaGrange.

Funeral Services will be held graveside at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, at Nokomis Cemetery in Nokomis. Mrs. Johnson will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, and son, Karl Robert Johnson. Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home of Nokomis is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson was born on Nov. 28, 1924, to Harlan and Hada (Gerulla) Staples in Nokomis. She married Theodore  Johnson on Aug. 21, 1942, and he preceded her in death on March 30, 2008. Mrs. Johnson was an avid reader and lover of all mysteries in print or television. She was also known for her famous potato salad that graced many a family BBQ or holiday buffet. She will be remembered most for the love she showed to her family.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters, Karen (Richard) Herman of La Grange, Karolyn (Spencer) Godfrey of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and Kimberly Johnson Garrigan of Oswego; grandchildren, Jeffrey Herman, Brian (Kristi) Herman, Sally Johnson, Kyle Godfrey, Connor Godfrey, Casey Godfrey, Beatrice Garrigan and Elizabeth Garrigan; and great-grandchildren, Margaret Herman and Abigail Herman.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Karl Staples; and son, Karl Robert Johnson.
