Barbara Jean (Lyons) Carter, 90, of Taylor Springs, died at 2:55 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, at Hillsboro Area Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro with the Rev. Jon Wagahoff, pastor of Blessed Hope Baptist Church of Raymond officiating.
Mrs. Carter was born on Nov. 5, 1932, in South Bend, IN to Robert and Thelma (Griffith) Lyons. She married Arthur “Bud” Carter in 1950, in South Bend, IN, and he preceded her in death on May 3, 2009.
Mrs. Carter graduated high school in South Bend, IN. She lived in Litchfield and Parr, TX, before moving back to Hillsboro in 1992. She was employed at Hillsboro Area Hospital in housekeeping.
She loved to travel in the camper with her late husband, Bud, and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Carter is survived by daughters, Pamela Ferguson of Hillsboro and Patricia (Robert) Landry of Port Townsend, WA; sons, Garry Carter of Florida and Robert (Tina) Carter of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Cory, Sarah, Adam, Stacy, Michelle, Karyn and Kyle; stepgrandchildren, Christina, Tawny and Eric; nine great-grandchildren and sister, Carol Koss of Muncie, IN.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Dennis Ferguson.
