Armour O. Beckerman, 94, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 2:34 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Private graveside services will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, with Mark Noyes of Hillsboro officiating. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Beckerman was born July 25, 1924, in Oakford, to the late Henry and Emma Beckerman. He married Mary Lou Foster on Jan. 15, 1947, in Petersburg, and she preceded him in death on May 21, 2001.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII, serving at Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. He has lived in Petersburg, and since the 1950s, he has lived in Hillsboro.

An installer and repairman for GTE and Illinois Consolidated, he owned and operated Beckerman Tree Service.

A past member of the Moose Lodge, he was a very hardworking man. He loved to collect coins, loved his cats, as well as big band music.

He is survived by children, Robert Beckerman of Hillsboro, Michael Beckerman of St. Louis, MO, Brian (wife Wendy) Beckerman of Petersburg, Connie Beckerman of Wilmette, Cathy Beckerman and Cheryl Arthur, both of Hillsboro; and six grandchildren,  Abby Beckerman, Conner Beckerman, Celia Beckerman, Lindsey Lahmeyer, Perry Arthur and Spencer Arthur.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by  one sister, and granddaughter, Kristen Lahmeyer.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Hillsboro.
